There is good news at least for the major market players and probably also for end customers in the mobile communications market!
The German government will probably forego a new tender for UMTS licenses as in 2019 and extend the existing licenses. The aim is to close the remaining gaps in the German network. in 2019, the governing coalition at the time had balanced its budget with almost seven billion euros in revenue from the auction of UMTS licenses, but the consequences are still being felt today. The high licence expenditure led to state revenues and, at the same time, to a delay in the necessary further network expansion due to the forced cost-cutting programs at the winners of the auction.
